What is important to us
The Gospel
We believe that the gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ, God’s very wisdom…..Foolishness to the world but the power of God to those who are being saved. The gospel is ‘good news’ its message centred on the cross and resurrection (Christ died for our sins and was ‘raised’). The gospel is not proclaimed if Christ is not proclaimed! His death and resurrection are central to our faith. If these events did not happen then our faith is worthless!
The Person of Jesus
Jesus is central to all history! We believe that by his incarnation, life, death, resurrection, and ascension, Jesus Christ acted as our representative and substitute. He did this so that in him we might become the righteousness of God: on the cross he cancelled sin, propitiated God, and, by bearing the full penalty of our sins, reconciled to God all those who believe. By his resurrection Christ Jesus was vindicated by his Father, broke the power of death and defeated Satan who once had power over it, and brought everlasting life to all his people; by his ascension he has been forever exalted as Lord and has prepared a place for us to be with him. We believe that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved. Christ Jesus has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.
The Power of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is present with and in believers. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and by his powerful and mysterious work regenerates spiritually dead sinners, awakening them to repentance and faith, baptizing them into oneness with the Lord Jesus. By the Spirit’s agency, believers are renewed, sanctified, and adopted into God’s family; they participate in the divine nature and receive his sovereign distributed gifts. The Spirit in-dwells us, guiding, instructing, equipping, reviving, and empowering believers for Christ-like living and service.
The Word of God
We believe the scriptures to be true and authoritative. They are God’s own word which contain his promises and when obeyed release his life. For this reason we believe in preaching and teaching his truth and the application of it to our own lives.
The Kingdom of God
We are called to live as salt in a world that is decaying and as a light in a world that is dark and are to do good to the city, we are to love our neighbours as ourselves, doing good to all. There are many ways in which we can love people (practical and other) but the kingdom of God is an invasive power that plunders Satan’s dark kingdom and regenerates and renovates through repentance and faith the lives of individuals rescued from that kingdom. We therefore will love all people from every culture believing that the greatest way we can love them is to bring them to Christ for the salvation of their souls and the redemption of their lives.
Family
Family is important to us! We strive to facilitate an environment where each person is honoured and valued as a member of God’s household. We also believe that all members of a local church partner together by being involved in all aspects of church life. We therefore encourage a partnership of ‘togetherness’ involvement in our vision and ventures, where all contribute meaningfully.
Prayer
We love to pray, believing that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective [James 5:16]. We encourage personal prayer devotion to the Lord and come together for regular corporate prayer times.
The Great Commission
We wholeheartedly embrace the mandate to go make disciples of all nations. We are a people who live with other nations in our heart, ‘sowing and going’ to different ‘tongues and tribes’ sharing with them the gospel.
