I (heart) PE 06/25/2011

I love PE.  What does this mean to me? Easy to say it, easy to tell others, easy to nod and agree with the "I (heart) PE" logo on this website...but what does it mean to me and how does it change the way i live in this city?

I love Jeremiah 29-not just the part that promises us a hope and a future and prosperity and all things good, but rather have a look at a couple of the preceding verses...and think of these in the context of "I Love PE":
  • Build houses and live in them - invest in the city and make the city your home.
  • Plant gardens and eat their produce - put roots down here, accept the provision that God has given you here through His kindness and your labour.  Enjoy the city.
  • Get married, multiply - be fruitful in the city.  God is a God of increase.
  • Seek the welfare of the city - Speak highly of your city, do not be critical or negative towards her.  Do not always look for the bad, but speak well of her, and seek good things for the city.  Get involved where you can in making PE a better place.  Seek the salvation of those who live here-Jesus is the answer to the welfare of the city : We could have all the gold in Africa, without Christ there is no eternal welfare for our city.
  • PRAY to the Lord on behalf of the city.  This is how we can practically Love PE.  Spending time on our knees, asking God for his favour over the city, seeking the welfare of the city from God, for his plans and purposes to be outworked in Port Elizabeth.
It always is easy to say that we love someone or something, but our words are only validated through our actions-let's get out there and let us LOVE PE.

Firstly, well done to David Sparrow for setting this site up for Bay City Church!  Dave you are a blessing to us and a real legend.  Thanks.

Grant and Sue Crawford are with Bay City today.  What a privilege for us to have them with us again.  Grant leads the church that Chantal and I were part of in Pietermaritzburg and even married us there 7 years ago! Always a treat to sit under his ministry.  It is awesome to be part of this wider family and to be connected to other parts of the body that we have a history with.

Well, if you are in Port Elizabeth and are keen to see what we are about, come and join us either Sunday mornings at the Linkside School Hall or else at the NG Kerk building in Richmond Hill on Sunday evenings at 6PM.

I'll be back...
